For maths group two’s task was to learn how to solve place value problems and how we use place value in different area’s. Place value is the place of a digit in a number that tells us how much it is worth. For example if there was an equation that said what is 100 more than 4,628,297 the
answer would be 4,628,397.
Social Influence
We unpacked how in a world of followers and influencers, how we can stay the ‘Navigator’ of our own lives.
We enjoyed this task because it brought back memories of old trends while also reminding us of the dangers of social influence.

Short Division
For math this week group 2 we lerning about long division how to do long division When you do long division, you are finding out how many times one number can fit into another number. You start by looking at the first digit of the big number (the number you are dividing). You ask yourself how many times the smaller number can fit into it. If it can’t fit, you look at the first two digits instead. Once you know how many times it fits, you write that number on top. Then you multiply it by the smaller number and write the answer underneath. After that, you subtract to see how much is left.

Anne Frank – The Annex
For this week of writing, I have learnt about the terrible story of Anne Frank and her life in the annex.
I first needed to learn about what the annex was, who was Anne Frank, and why was she so important? My teacher had given us a website that gave us a visual website of the annex. It was a small little back house that fit 7 people but was probaly meant for about 2, 3 max. It was behind a business office that was covered in Nazi soilders.
I read the information that was connected to each object. I found out that the water use was limited towards both families in the annex, and that they could probably never shower for their 2 years in the annex. The life was indeed very poor.
It lasted for 2 years until a few months away from the end of WW2, on August 4th 1944 2 Nazi German officers discovered the annex entrance behind a bookcase, they found the 8 Jewish people hidden and all 8 were arrested. 7 died execpt for Otto Frank, (Annes Father).
Multiplication
This week, LS2’s math Group 2 has revised on multiplication algorithim, even creating a DLO.
We first had to have a little recap js to get our minds in the right space for math and to get familiar with algorithim again.
We then started the book work that got slowly more difficult. It had questions that would ask like what the missing values would be, and regular question.
I lastly created my task and bloged my work. The DLO should help younger students get a good idea or fully master the algorithim.

Tiriti O Waitangi (Treaty Of Waitangi)

For this weeks Inquiry, LS2 have created a image of what the people at the signing of Waitangi could have been thinking/saying.
First Tech of 2026
This week LS2 and LS1 went to tech for the first time of 2026, some being for the first time ever.
First off, LS2 hopped off the bus entering Tamaki College, seeing old classmates and seeing our possible teachers. Year 8 was split into two groups, A and B; I was in A. We made our way to the class with Miss Roy, I was doing sewing.
I then, sat in our assigned seats and I was given a sheet of paper which will be used for the rest of the terms rotation class. I wrote my name, school and answered some basic Health and Saftey questions.
I then had to find all the danger inside of a image which would then allow nus to finally start using the machines.
Lastly I completed the task and started on the machine, I was then given a recap on how to use the sewing machine. I used a peice of paper that had curvy lines and sharp lines to practice on my sewing skills, I was very quickly refreshed on how to use the sewing machine.
Turbo The Dog
This week for My Summer Learning Journey I have learnt about a amputee dog, due to that I have added some prostectics to help the dog walk again.
I first watched a video about “Turbo The Dog” who was born without his 2 front legs. I then saw that the dog was apart of the chihuahua breed. I looked for a simple image of that breed to start the task.
I found a simple clipart photot and began tracing everything but the front two legs (Later on I will add the prostectics). When I was finished tracing the tail, body, face, back legs, and details I then used some creativity to think of what prosthetics would be most effective.
Then I thought and thought and thought… until, I remembered these robot dogs that you could buy in real life. They use a metal leg that replicates a dogs, including joints, a battery, and stable feet plant at the bottom for the dog to stand.
I added the image and traced it, matching the body of the dog. I then finished my task and bloged it.
This is the final project, I hope you enjoyed this Summer Learning Blog post, and the finished results.
Legs Tally – Step it Up
This week for The Summer Learning Journey, I have done the step it up from the “legs tally” task.
This time for this task, instead of using mathematics questions to teach me about the centipede it gave me a text about the centipede to find facts off for my task.
It gave me pretty much everything about a centipede is inside of that task, and something that was really easy was that the questions were in order from the information being in the start of the text to the last part of the task.
For the last part of this task I just answered the rest of the questions and just bloged my task.

Legs Tally – Kick Start
LI: Learn more about centipedes.
This week on The Summer Learning Journey I have finished a template about the centipedes.
It used math to explain the body nof the centipede, but a fact that I found out on the next task was that centipedes don’t actually have 100 legs normaly, but actually 30 on the regular.
It asked me questions like, “How many pairs would a centipede have if it had 100 legs”. The next question used fractions using fractions like 1/5 of 100 to 1/2 of 40.
This task on the summer Learning journey really taught me some things about the centipedes anatomy and also using fun mathematical ways to teach me about the centipede.
